Student Musician Scholarship Program
The Poulsbo Community Orchestra has established a Student Musician Scholarship Program for student musicians actively participating in music activities and interested in playing in the Orchestra. This Program has been generously funded by the Peninsula Music and Arts Society.
The goal of the Program is to defray, in full or in part, the Poulsbo Parks and Recreation fee. If the scholarship is approved, the fee will be billed directly to the orchestra.
A Scholarship Committee composed of Orchestra members will review applications and make recommendations to the Executive Director. A primary consideration in determining scholarships will be the needs of the Orchestra in its recruiting of new student musicians, and retaining existing members of the Orchestra.
To be considered, prepare an email application as described below. Applicants will be expected to provide a letter of recommendation from their music teachers and/or music program coordinators.
Factors to be considered by the Scholarship Committee will include: experience in playing instruments; current participation in music activities (including the Orchestra); and goals, short-term and long-term, for personal efforts in music.
It is expected that a scholarship recipient will volunteer in a minor capacity for the orchestra (e.g. arrive 15 minutes early to rehearsal to help with set up).
